Kenny Wednesday #6: Well Well Wells

6. Kenny Wells - Isn't It Just A Shame?

I know absolutely nothing about this week's Kenny other than that he crops up on one of the many Northern Soul compilations in my record collection with this sparkly soul gem. Beyond that, you're on your own. I couldn't even find a picture of him. Maybe he never existed. Maybe he's just a figment of my imagination. How do we know if any of this is real?

I did find the single's original b-side, I Can't Stop, on youtube though, and that's pretty cool too. So Kenny recorded two songs, at least. Unless we're all just dreaming in the Matrix...

  2. Mmm, I love me a bit of Northern Soul in the morning... very nice!
The name 'Kenny Wells' just has certain ring to it too, I'm wondering if I've seen him mentioned on Marie's blog? If so then may get more proof of his existence... and ours.

    1. That would be good. I'd love to know I hadn't just made him up.

  3. Hello there Rol...remember me?

Sadly, I don't get to your brilliant site very much anymore, and its certainly been quite some time between my last visit. I see its changed, and Kenny Wednesday sounds like a fantastic idea - and it seems that when you get an idea like this you sure know when to hold em and know when to fold em (see what I did there???!!!)

My blogging/listing days are over - well on likely permanent hiatus now, but I have been partaking in a couple of music related blogs - namely song-bar.com and the Guardian's Readers Recommend series, which are quite fun, and you can probably easily track me down at those places.

But I will try and get back here more often - the Kenny's may have sucked me in!!!

Are you taking Kenny requests? I don't have many artists other than Rogers and Loggins that you have already considered, but I do have a couple of Kenny songs I could suggest!!

Take care, hope you and your family are well.

    1. Great to hear from you again, Deano. Funnily enough, I was looking through some old posts the other day and I saw your comments and wondered what had become of you. Hope you and yours are doing well over on the other side of the world.

Your recommendations are always welcome here. I think I have the next four Kennies nailed down now, but I'm always open to a little persuasion. One thing I know for certain: you never count your money while you're sitting at the table!

  4. Certainly wouldn't have thought of this Kenny but now that I understand the whole background to Northern Soul (and of course Marie is an expert) I appreciate it more. Got the 2014 film Northern Soul sitting on the machine ready to watch when I have time but looking forward to it.
