Saturday Snapshots #117 - The Answers

Let's be blunt... here are this week's answers.

I started the year with some quite easy ones as I'm sure you're all feeling depressed about returning to work / normality after your Christmas excesses. But be warned... there are some stinkers coming up in the next few weeks!

10. Do you remember a Danish boardgame? It's incomprehensible.

In Danish "Hüsker Dü?" (meaning “Do you remember?") is a children's memory board game. Apparently. I will rely on Chris to tell me if this is not the case.

Hüsker Dü - It Makes No Sense At All

9. Ex? Ha ha - the jokes on you!

Gotcha!

Or, rather...

Gotye - Somebody I Used To Know

Once you've realised that the tune to this song is "baa baa black sheep", you can't ever unhear it.

8. Butterflies and sleepless nights in a reeky mill.

"A reeky mill" is an anagram.

Butterflies in your tummy and not being able to sleep are two symptom as being in love...

Kelly Marie - Feels Like I'm In Love

7. Rice, meat and a clump of conqueror's hair.

A hank of William's hair?

The dish made out of rice and meat would be...

Hank Williams - Jambalaya

6. Lift streaks the sky.

Need a lift? No, I need a Ride.

Ride - Vapour Trail

5. Mum's curry for Action Men.

Ma's tikka?

Martika - Toy Soldiers

4. McCartney braggs about his affair with Grace.

Billy Bragg + Paul McCartney... and Grace Jones!

Billy Paul - Me & Mrs. Jones

3. If you don't turn that radiator off, a Scottish valley will sizzle.

The glen will fry!!!

Glenn Frey - The Heat Is On

2. Dante's contraception.

Dante wrote The Divine Comedy.

In days gone by, your barber might offer you "something for the weekend?"

The Divine Comedy - Something For The Weekend

There's nothing in the woodshed. Is there?

1. Comparable with Dylan? There's just no pleasing some people.

Dylan sang Like A Rolling Stone, of course.

Find yourself a quiet place to play Saturday Snapshots again next week...

  1. I wasn't aware of meaning of Something for the Weekend, cleverly included in the clue.

In Danish: Husker du? =Do you remember?. Wiki says it's a 1970s American game which is why I haven't played. The game and rock group added the ¨ ¨ symbols.

    1. Interesting. Wonder why the Americans chose a Danish phrase for the game? Possibly because "Husker du?" sounds a little bit cooler than "Do you remember?"

  2. I clearly need to brush up on my former Eagles
