Saturday Snapshots #139
To make up for the ugly dudes in yesterday's post, here's a very handsome chap to welcome you into your Saturday morning. Elvis may now have featured here as many times as Debbie Harry... and don't you think they'd make the perfect couple. Uh huh. Thankyouverymuch.
Here's this week's clues. Try and unpick them to reveal singers and songs, please.
10. Hot, fashionable vinyl clicks a clapperboard.
9. The most beautiful hairdresser I ever heard... but build like a stone.
8. First letter to where Sonny died... off we trot once more.
7. Back when we used to bop like #2... and shag like an operatic solo.
6. Mr. T shoots racist marmalade.
(In case you're wondering, no, that's not Rob Brydon.)
5. Third Scarborough herb for George... in shaky property.
4. Staple found in the middle of Elvis - I'm just saying.
3. Smoking hedge partner sets fire to jungle - call George! (Not that George.)
2. Ellen zipped by like a Foreigner tune.
1. Top crying from conquering crow.
Easy peasy, lemon squeezy, right? Well, some of them...
No. 6 - BA Robertson Bang Bang
ReplyDeleteNo. 10 are The Flaming Groovies but I don't know the song. Maybe Shake Some Action
ReplyDelete10 - Flamin' Groovies: Shake Some Action
ReplyDelete2 - Led Zeppelin: Immigrant Song?
ReplyDeleteNo. 2 - Led Zeppelin (anagram) - I'll leave the song for someone else!
ReplyDelete5. Rosemary Clooney - This 'Ole House
ReplyDeleteParsley, Sage etc
DeleteNo 2: Led Zeppelin - Immigrant song
ReplyDelete1 - Billy Bragg: Levi Stubbs' Tears
ReplyDeleteThat's it for me!
Thought it looked like a young Billy - well done
DeleteRight that's my lot too - I'm off to celebrate my big birthday now but Saturdays Snapshots was my first stop of the day. Plans all out the window now, so it seems I will turn the big 60 with family and friends on Zoom. What a year.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Alyson
DeleteHave a great day despite the restrictions, Alyson.
DeleteThanks everyone.
DeleteHappy Birthday
DeleteThanks Chris and sorry for hijacking your Sat Snapshots Rol - Still lots of snapshots to answer.
DeleteHappy birthday Alyson, you devilish one ;-) I know it won't be as planned but hope you have a really lovely day - and some real cake! x
DeleteYup happy birthday Alyson
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your bus pass when you get the chance!
'Take the National Express when your life's in a mess' - Yes indeed as I am now indeed eligible for a bus pass!
DeleteThanks for the birthday wishes.
Happy birthday Alyson!
ReplyDeleteIs that this week's quiz finished then????
Thanks Lynchie - NO - Lots to get yet.
Delete9, 8, 7, 4, 3 still up for grabs.
DeleteWell, I know Aaron is Elvis' middle name, so 4 has to be Aaron Neville and the song "Tell It Like It Is"
ReplyDelete9. Marie Vidal - "Body Rock"
ReplyDelete(I know my hardressers!)
3 is Brendan Benson. I don't know the song
ReplyDeleteWhat would start a fire?
DeleteObviously not Billy Joel.
DeleteI was thinking: a match, a tinderbox but after a little bit of cheating I see that it’s probably something else. Still time for others to get it though.
DeleteSonny Bono died whilst skiing at Lake Tahoe but not sure if it’s the Sonny you refer to if that info would fit the clue for No. 8?
ReplyDeletePS Sorry again for hijacking Snapshots this week but I have had a really lovely day and it all started here.
Hijack away, Alyson. I'm glad you had a nice birthday.
DeleteWe need Brian and Mrs Brian
ReplyDelete#3 is Tiny Spark. Stumped on 7 and 8. Does 7 have Aria in it? Does 8 have anything to do with Tahoe?
ReplyDeleteYes to both. 7 has a naughty word in it. 8 has a band name that's impossible to google.
ReplyDeleteThe band in 7 is named after a song by #2.
ReplyDelete#7 Those Dancing Days, Fuckarias
DeleteBrian or Mrs?
DeleteThis is Mrs. Brian again, I think I got it: #8
DeleteA - Here We Go Again (I Love Lake Tahoe)
Mrs. Brian for both (love the brainteasers)
ReplyDeleteWow. Mrs. Brian obviously thinks just like me.
ReplyDeleteThat must be scary for you, Brian!
Just had the loveliest lockdown birthday and now I return to find that all 10 Snapshots have been solved, yet again courtesy of Mrs Brian it seems. Well done. I shall now retire confident in the knowledge this day has no loose ends. Doesn’t get much better than that.
ReplyDeleteHappy 40th, Alyson! Glad the birthday was a success.
ReplyDeleteThat was the milestone, right?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the birthday wishes Brian and you know what, despite lockdown, I enjoyed my 60th a lot more than my 40th. Different stages in life an’ all that. Well done on completing this weeks quiz along with your good wife. I’m well impressed.
