Many years back there was a rap/hip hop band who did a song called "Let Me Butter Your Muffins". Can't remember the name of the band - maybe I imagined it?
Definitely an earworm - have been hearing it a lot on 6Music during my working day and it really gets in there. It's very "now" somehow. And I love that line "would you like me to assign someone to worry your mother?"
Annoyingly catchy. Is that a definition of an earworm?
ReplyDeletePretty much, George.
Deletewhat is most annoying is that the first 5 seconds are the start of another track and It's driving me nuts trying to remember what it is!
ReplyDeleteIt definitely owes a debt to Da Da Da by Trio, if that's what you're thinking of, Sarah.
DeleteThose first few seconds also seem to evolve into Jonathan Richman & the Modern Lovers 'Roadrunner' in my head. I can imagine a weird mash-up.
DeleteA fun song, especially if you know about buttering someone's muffins. :)
ReplyDeleteThat section is stolen from the film Mean Girls.

ReplyDeleteVery catchy indeed.
ReplyDeleteThis has had a few plays on 6Music. When I first heard it I thought "Hmm", but the more you listen to it, the more it goes in.
ReplyDeleteIt's a goodun innit
Like that. Some fine lyrics too.
ReplyDeleteMrs. LTL says she heard this one on KEXP here in Seattle the other day. Sounds like it’s making the rounds. Good news.
