Saturday Snapshots #12
Saturday is the best day of the week! Here's why...
Ten clues to ten great songs. Who'll guess them first?
10. Two things Otis claimed to have in Tramp go paseo.
9. Scottish comics get me really angry.
8. Silly & lazy, yet insists on being a traditional bride.
7. Like The Man says, the right Geordie goes a little French.
6. Big O song of the Spanish king. I was always an Atari man myself.
5. Not Morrissey's world; not Mr. Ed or Shergar either.
4. Add 997 to the above, supporting camping without golf in the Reformation.
3. A sweet Beatles girl and a jerky fellow get disconnected.
2. Night sky obscured by Carly's coffee, "Yay!" say the upper class twits.
1. Delta, famous for 15 minute soup and a Queen simile.
Special prize for anyone shameless enough to admit to knowing #2.
2 - RAH Band - "Clouds Across the Moon" (I'm not ashamed cos it's the only song of theirs I know and I can't even remember what it sounds like - honest!)
ReplyDelete3 is Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty - no idea of the song but they did do the 2nd best version of "You're the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly".
5. America - Horse With No Name (where you got that photo of them from is a mystery to me. I thought they had SOME integrity!)
10. "Cadillac Walk" by Mink DeVille
Well done. Wrong song for 10 though.
ReplyDeleteSpanish Stroll for the song?
DeleteBilly Idol - White Wedding for No 8
ReplyDelete10 - Spanish Stroll by Mink Deville
ReplyDeleteI got Billy Idol too, what a great photo!
D'oh, just noticed Alyson's Spanish Stroll comment! Beat me to it by a minute!
DeleteHa ha - Sorry about that. For once I usually submit short and snappy comments here as I know that those few seconds could result in a gazumping!
DeleteIs #7 James Brown?
ReplyDeleteNo. But you know him.
Deleteno 1 is the Dandy Warhols
ReplyDeleteno 4 is tenpole tudor - swords of a 1000 men
ReplyDelete7. Bohemian Like you?
ReplyDeleteExcellent work, George!
DeleteJust to be clear, 'Bohemian Like You' is no 1 not no 7
ReplyDelete7: Little Richard?
6: was thinking Commodores but it's a woman. Then there's Apple computers, but she looks more like Faith Hill than Fiona Apple :/
Think more generically.
Delete6: Perhaps a young, blonde Lorraine McIntosh (of Deacon Blue). There's a song called Queen of the New Year
ReplyDeleteThink much more contemporary.
DeleteI chose "Cadillac Walk", because Otis claimed to have one (a Cadillac) in "Tramp".
ReplyDeleteBy the by - 50 years tomorrow since Otis died.
Deville is a type of Cadillac... So you were on the right lines.
DeleteI just got number 7! "Reet Petite" - Jackie Wilson
ReplyDeleteYay!
DeleteIs 6 Lana Del Rey?
ReplyDelete6. video games by Lana Del Rey
ReplyDeleteGeorge is on fire!
DeleteConway and Loretta - As Soon as I Hang Up
ReplyDeleteOnly number 9 to go?
That's some pair of trousers Eddie Tudor is sporting!
ReplyDeleteNo 9. Scottish comics - the Jock Buntys?
ReplyDeleteYou're thinking along the right lines. Any comics that originate from Scotland? Dundee, say?
DeleteBeezer, Topper, Beano, Dandy, Victor, Bunty all from DC Thomosn of Dundee (and the city of my birth)
DeleteOne of those, plural. From the Britpop era.
DeleteThe Dandys - you make me want to scream
DeleteTadah!
DeleteThe Sunday Post!
ReplyDeleteBwahahaha. For an extra clue, look to #1.
DeleteSurprise, surprise, I still have my Buntys.
