Saturday Snapshots #19

Saturday's were made for POP. (And not just Iggy.)

Identify the ten pop songs - and their performers - below...

10. Home for mad spirits. Where's the brakes!?!

9. Smaller than a superstar collie, sighing at trucks.

8. Kinda like this blog... hardly a firecracker!

7. Beware of this (unabbreviated) spinning lady... she's coming for New York!

6. Mental illness? Climb a mountain in the Med.

5. Art makes Hazlewood a prisoner for drinking sugary pop from Korea.

4. Steve & Charlie chew it over.

3. Created to adore... and smooch.

2. Good for staying up and larging it on Saturday & Sunday.

1. What Bond got LOADS.

Easy... like Sunday morning (when you'll get the answers).

    1. Whooooooo? (I'd take that as a no.)

    2. I was going to chime in with an Alexander Brothers guess but then thought no-one but you and CC will have heard of them! Definitely a no though.

    3. #2 is probably aimed at JC - who finds this quiz too hard - or The Swede - who's probably still on holiday. I thought maybe CC might get it though.

  7. 7 Jennifer Warnes - First We Take Manhatten

  8. I'd just like to point out that I was here at 6.40 this morning and there was NOTHING! So much for the early quiz person catching the quiz questions. Harrumph!

    1. I didn't think it was THAT tough this week. I also didn't think the post went live till 8.30. Have you got a time machine?

    1. No. You will kick yourself when someone gets the answer.

What does James Bond get lots?

    2. Shot at. Sex. Therefore my answer is Laid

  10. Number 4 is Cud. I have no idea about the song, I can think of Only a Prawn In Whitby and Robinson Crusoe, and I can't link Steve or Charlie to either track.

    1. Correct. I thought this particular song was their biggest "hit".

    2. I'm guessing the song is Rich & Strange

  11. And I give up, I've no idea about no. 8. None. Ditto number 2. Is the initial clue for 2 a drug reference? Have you listened to that Alexander Brothers track yet? I think you'll like it. And I suspect myself, Alyson, Gram and CC could sing you the entire song

    1. Not yet. Need to get near a computer (on phone now). The initial clue for 2 is another sex reference, I'm afraid. Impossible not to be with a band called this.

    2. Something to do with Viagra??

    3. A bit more old-fashioned than that.

      Think Belle & Sebastian.

    4. With that clue, I'm guessing the band is Arab Strap.

I only own the first album, so the song could be The First Big Weekend

    5. Sadly I think I could sing all of Nobody's Child - My granny's favourite Alexander Bros song!

As for Arab Strap, the photo was too small but if it had been a close up I would have recognised Malcolm Middleton from your Christmas snapshots quiz. Spent a lot of time pouring over that one and was really chuffed when I worked out the jaunty seasonal ditty "We're All Going To Die"!

  12. The first thread I can ever remember featuring both the Alexander Brothers and Arab Strap
