Saturday Snapshots #22

It's Saturday: time for all you uptown girls and downtown guys to start working out this week's Snapshots...

Identify ten artists and songs from the clues below, please...

10. Chuck Berry loses a buck and gets mad. Put on some James Brown to calm him down.

9. Spherical altocumulus.

8. Get your shoes polished where Arthur Lee lives.

7. Michael makes my mouth water with his spongy biscuits.

6. Alfred's prizewinner wakes up Saint Peter.

5. Voices from space enjoy post-noon nookie.

4. Genuine American actress has a good soak in Finsbury Park.

3. The gorgeous breadmaker chooses a naïve, shrunken crone.

2. Unlocking your rental causes a commotion in the dairy.

1. Complete the marathon with Tracy and Bette.

I reckon there's only one in there this week that will pose you any headscratching at all. I really am making these too easy.

Answers tomorrow morning... or in the comments section by about 9.30.

    1. Excellent, Swede - but wrong song, I'm afraid.

    2. I made the clue (almost) fit though didn't I? In that case I guess it must be 'Bathtime In Clerkenwell'.

    1. #2: Alicia Keys does have a song+album called Diary. Sia is famous for concealing her face but she's a blonde

    2. It's not Alicia Keys... Although the key is half right.

    3. Looks a bit like MIA??? but I can't figure it out...

    4. Nope. But you'll all kick yourself. Concentrate on the song: the commotion in the dairy.

    5. Well I think I'm going right off the track here but wondered if it was Nicki Minaj from the pic. And the ki/key bit in the clue. And then because I can't think of a single song by NM I looked some up and found Truffle Butter - a dairy link? - but think that may be pure coincidence!
More a process of elimination now!

    6. I think you may be overthinking it now. ;-)

  14. Dammit, too late again, and only got 10, 9, 5 and 4 to find they have already been answered..... going to have to set the alarm next Sat....

  15. Arrived here earlier but Brian had beaten me to it, cracking the only 2 that jumped out at me. Don't begrudge him that at all however as he tends to miss out unless he burns the midnight oil.

Going to work on that "commotion in the dairy" but tricky - Anything to do with Jersey? The (bottom of the) singer's face looks familiar but currently stumped.

    1. It's a real puzzler, isn't it? I thought the same about the bottom of her face. It's really bugging me!

    2. Think I've got it - Key lease - Kelis and that awful Milkshake song?

    3. Awful? Awful? You must have heard a different version to me!

      (Well done though.)

    4. Well done, that woman!
(Not 'nick-key-menage' then.... but any points for effort?!)

      Delete
    5. There's such a thing as too much effort...

    6. Not so great when your 8-year-old daughter and her friends take to singing it in the school playground! Just sayin’.

    7. Understood. Like so much pop music these days, it needs a 15 certificate.

  16. Just woke up and looked up this Milkshake song... which the Mrs. knew immediately for some reason. Rol, surprised this didn’t make your best opening lines list the other day. Oh my.
