Saturday Snapshots #369

Welcome back to Saturday Snapshots, where we're always aiming for a new Lowe.

Sometimes people complain that certain of the artists featured on this quiz are a bit too modern: young, hip and contemporary pop stars that those of a certain advancement in years might struggle to identify (or even have heard of). This week's quiz is for those of you who might feel that way. You'll be pleased to know that the most recent act on today's countdown last had a hit in 1997. None of that post-millennial nonsense today!

Who are the old folks below... and how are their songs connected?

12. Nathan is Best!

11. Ugly Kenny.

10. Kaine, coded.

9. American sandwich in the automobile with George.

8. James was outlawed from Arfur's Club.

7.  Where you might get trapped by a preacher.

6. Father Christmas meets Quasi-Girl.

5. Uncle, and resident of Dagenham.

4. Liverpudlian egg scramblers.

3. Night train.

2. Unsolve Zara Arch.

1. Not Rod Stewart's baby.

Answers tomorrow morning. If we're all still here...

    1. Could be. Rod Stewart's baby was Jane but not sure that helps with identifying them.

    2. Thanks for the non-Millennial snapshots but I still seem to be rubbish.

  3. 12 George Jones
    11 Betty Everett?

  6. Song titles that were all tv shows?

  7. Going by the eyes and nose could 2 be a young Charles Asnavour?

No idea on the answer but working off the Nick Lowe photo it could be something to do with cruelty, kindness, peace, love, understanding, breaking glass or brides who like to rock and roll. Or something else entirely.

    1. Personal pronouns even?

    2. It could be something else entirely. Although you're correct that Nick Lowe is an extra clue. I can't always shoehorn one into the top image, but this week I did.

    3. And I've done pronouns already, John.

    4. Charles Aznavour - he definitely improved with age!

  8. 1 is Yoko "Oh No Not My Baby" (interestingly, done by Cher as well as Rod so I think Alyson should get a bonus point).

Rol implying that I had not got the right Nick Lowe song suggests that the link isn't glass or windows (if you haven't heard Yoko's "I Felt Like Smashing My Face in a Clear Glass Window" you really should)

The only other song of hers I can think of is "Walking On Thin Ice" so is it something to do with perilous situations?

    1. Drat I was going to suggest Yoko but didn't want to make a fool of myself twice.

    2. I wasn't necessary saying you had the wrong Nick Lowe song... I was just saying that none of those things were the link...

  9. Is it to do with having the blues - being 'low' ?!

  10. If it's not song titles that are tv shows or songs about illegally made alcohol, is there a Beatles connection in song titles?

  11. Haven't the foggiest. One last wild guess before I go to Dartford for nefarious reasons - the onset of winter?

  12. Lateral thinking required this week...

    Nick Lowe
    George Jones
    Charles Aznavour
    Sam & Dave
    Betty Everett

Those are probably the most obvious ones to make the link from, along with 10, which nobody has got...

  13. referencing George Jones, Aznavour and Nick Lowe is not much of a clue they have probably recorded or written 2000 songs between them

    1. Song titles that are the names of films.

    2. It's nothing to do with the song titles this week...

  15. They have all recorded songs written by Isaac Hayes (who could possibly forget Charles Aznavour's version of Shaft?)
