Saturday Snapshots #400

This is Sir Edmund Hilary. I invited him along today to help celebrate the 400th edition of Snapshots. Quite a mountain we've climbed together...

Here are twenty stars of popular music. But how are their songs connected? (Maybe I'll stop asking who they all are, since once the connection's been guessed, nobody really cares about their identities anymore. Such is life.)

20. Like a Sonic Youth offshoot.

19. At His Majesty's pleasure...

18. Mulligan's paddy wagon.

17. Scritti & Doris.

16. Chronic Youth.

15. Neither atheists not agnostics.

14. If it's too late for goodbye, how will you bear up?

13. Bristow, abbreviated... and a junior griffin.

12. Betty's last word.

11. Hilarious, in her later years.

10. A resident and a nadir.

9. The Cure singing Sugar Sugar.

8. Parliamentary subdivision.

7. Financial aid for US loos.

6. Sobule + Nugent + 7.

5. 6 & 7, as helpless as a kitten up a tree, Dad.

4. Top Gear.

3. Smelly squat.

2. Me: Chico Jr. But I may be wrong.

1. Albert Buster Caspian.

Answers tomorrow!

    1. Me too. Not guessing the artists would be as pointless as a Namesakes where they all have different names

    2. Hidden their far too recognisable faces. I have to do something to keep you guys on your toes!

    2. Bears is a much more exciting answer. I think Alyson should get a bonus point.

    3. I'll have to look into a Bears edition.

  13. Well done on the 400th edition Rol. Something we all look forward to of a Saturday morning but we do realise it must take a lot of work, so thank you very much for putting it together. It is much appreciated.

  14. Congrats on the 400th edition, can hardly believe it, and it's fantastic that you've been able to give us a different challenge every week, thank you.
And I bloody missed it this morning! A stormy night and the loudest thunderclap I have ever heard (thought it was a bomb) led to the loss of our internet connection for several hours this morning and I can't be doing it on my tiny phone screen!

    2. How late is “better late than never”, Rol? Hopefully this qualifies!

Many congrats on #400, what an achievement! Given that I’m always late even when I’m trying not to be, then all I can focus on is trying to plug the ID gaps, as the main prize is long gone.

A relief that Ernie pulled a save and identified 14 as Julian Coor, though.

    3. I will kick myself in a few hours when you reveal #9, as I almost recognise the chap on the right.

No such uncertainty about #12 though, it’s Doop by, er, Doop.

  15. Despite me never taking part in the weekly shenanigans (the clues are too tough and cryptic for the way my brain is badly wired-up), I really want to congratulate you on this fantastic landmark.

It's all part of what makes this particular blog one of the best and most innovative places to visit. You're a superstar, Rol.
