Namesakes #162: Fireworks

Remember, remember, the fifth of November. Time to let off some fireworks. But will any of them light your fire?

FIREWORKS #1

We kick off our display with some "Classic Christian Rock at its best!" From somewhere in the Bible Belt, 1977.

Fireworks - New Day

FIREWORKS #2

Next up, a little bit of punky rock 'n' roll from Dallas in the early 90s.

Fireworks - Silver Moon

FIREWORKS #3

"Happy hardcore" from 1995. Take two paracetamol and see me in the morning.

Fireworks - Magical

Look, there were a bunch of these kinds of Fireworks available on discogs. I left the rest of them in the tin.

FIREWORKS #4

Quite a fun video from these Detroit pop-punk Fireworks, active since 2004.

Fireworks - Arrows

(THERE WILL BE) FIREWORKS #5

Bending the rules for these Scottish indie types who formed in 2008 - don't get too excited though, it's Scottish indie of the Snow Patrol variety...

There Will Be Fireworks - Something Borrowed

THE FIREWORKS #6

More enticing, from Brighton in the last decade comes a "fuzzy" guitar band who bring back memories of the Primitives and their ilk.

The Fireworks - Runaround

THE FIRE WORKS #7

And finally, some modern German punks from about ten years ago, together with their pet dinosaur.

The Fire Works - The Devil's Union

Which one rockets to the top of your charts? And which are the damp squibs?

  1. None are great but #6 are OK.

The singer on #1 reminds me a bit of the late Dave Cousins from Strawbs.
