Bunch, Pyramids Of Jamaica, Roy And Duke All Stars, Seven Letters, Sir Collins And The Earthquakes, Sonny & The Stoneagers, Symarip, The Alterations, The Bed Bugs, The Family Circle, The Jamaican Cousins, The Original Africans and The West Indians).

The Bees I was most familiar with before I started this post. These Isle Of Man Bees released four albums between 2002 and 2010, and buzzed their way into the UK Top 30 in 2005 with a tune that Radcliffe & Maconie play on a regular basis. I might have seen them live at some point.

Here's another band I was also familiar with, but only in their later life as The Silver Seas ("copyright issues" forced the name change... though curiously not for any of the other bands featured here today!).
They're from Nashville, though you probably wouldn't know that. Here they are in 2004...

ReplyDelete#6 is a garage band classic on 'Nuggets' so will probably be at or near the top of my list.
#1 - I like it but I think you are confusing Billy and Bobby Bland when it comes to sobriquets. Only Bobby was 'Blue'.
#7 - also very good. I think that may be the great Laurel Aitken doing the intro. He has a writing credit and separately released a single called 'Jesse James'. So it is either him or they have given him a credit to acknowledge they nicked the idea off him.
#10 - can't see what the fuss is about I'm afraid.
#12 - Bobbins but good to see Keith Chegwin and Nasher from Frankie Goes to Hollywood in the line-up.
#14 - Interesting (sic) fact. Discogs say this was produced by Ronnie Robot, best known as the bass player of Rabbitt, the 1970s South African group. Other ex members included Trevor Rabin (Yes and countless film scores) and Duncan Faure who replaced Les in The Rollers (they had dropped the Bay City by then).
