The Neverending Top Ten #1.1: Chicken Payback

After three days last week when both nursery and pre-school were closed due to the snow, and I was left to handle entertaining a hyperactive 4 year old while his mum tried to carry on working (from home) as normal... followed by a busy weekend that featured two kids' birthday parties and even more snow... we were all ready for the glorious return to normality that today would bring.

Until, late Sunday afternoon, we noticed the spots...

Chickenpox.

Meaning Sam can't be around other kids for at least another week... possibly two. And his already stressed-to-the-gills parents are both going to have to take more time off work to look after him while he recovers. You love 'em dearly, but sometimes it's hard, this parenting malarkey...

  1. Oh dear - a tough one. Hope you've both had chickenpox as when DD was struck down, so was I, and its a lot worse at 40 than at 4 I can assure you. Hope he doesn't suffer too badly.

  2. Oh no. Feel better soon Sam. As Alyson says, I hope you've both had it already.

  3. Oh no, what a time! Good luck with it all, hope Sam recovers quickly from (what we used to call) "the chicken pops" and yes that you've both had it too as Alyson and TS say.

  4. Thanks, guys. Fortunately, yes, we've both had it. I was lucky enough to have chickenpox and German measles at the same time when I was a kid. But we were made of tougher stuff in those days!

  5. You’re gonna need an ocean of calamine lotion.

Sorry, but how often do you get to use that line?
