Waitaminute, doc... are you telling me you built a QUIZ... out of a bunch of old snapshots?
Here are ten clues to Fox you. Identify the stars below... then work out what connects their songs. Extra points for this week's connection, as I reckon it's a tricky one...
10. Rated worst.
9. This pair are a mystery to me.
8. Arthur Daley settles down and puts his feet up.
7. Everybody... tonight.
6. Presumably none of them are called Billy.
5. Best & Ball.
4. What someone who loves the nightlife uses to get into their home.
3. Panther meets wood-knocker.
2. Deserving of worship.
1. Tim Booth gets some Sugar.
You guys might not be ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it.
(Answers tomorrow. If you want them now, find a way to get back to the future.)
7. Wang Chung (formerly Huang Chung)
ReplyDelete1. Jimi Hendrix?
Sorry, 1&7 was me. John Medd
ReplyDeleteNot Hendrix
DeleteJames Brown!
DeleteNope. First name correct though.
Delete8. Art Blakey
ReplyDeleteNope.
DeleteIf George Best and Alan Ball are your references for #5 then I tip my hat to you; but I fear they may not be...
ReplyDeleteDifferent Ball.
DeleteAnyway, that's me done. I'm going for some breakfast.
ReplyDelete10. Rod Stewart
ReplyDeleteAlyson
1. James Brown
ReplyDeleteAlyson
DeleteIt's not James *Brown*.
DeleteSorry just noticed it’s been guessed already.
Delete4. Alicia Keys
ReplyDeleteAlyson
5. A very cute young George (Best) Michael (Ball).
ReplyDeleteAlyson
Ah, I can see it now! Very cute as you say.
Delete6 Goat Girl.
ReplyDeleteAs for a link - is it songs about big American cities? NYC/LA
ReplyDeleteAlyson
DeleteNo. Link is tricky this week.
DeletePink Floyd is no. 3
ReplyDelete1 James Mould??????
ReplyDeleteJames lyle?
DeleteNo. Bonus clue...
ReplyDeleteYou all know the #1 song, but you might not know this, the original version ...
Has the singer for no. 1 been correctly identified?
DeleteNo.
Delete2. Is that Billy Idol? The big one, I mean...
ReplyDeleteYes.
DeleteTypes of church service?
ReplyDeleteJM
I'm obsessing with the singer for no 1. I saw that you said it's not James "brown" and given the sugar part of the clue, I thought James White, or Jim White, but the Jim White I can think if is the One-eyed Jesus bloke.
ReplyDeleteI'm obsessing about it too. Wondering if the capital S for Sugar is an extra clue, e.g. like the band Sugar. Which doesn't really help but I'll put it out there.
DeleteOoh... thinking aloud here... is it like Sugar Ray? Is there a James Ray? Sounds plausible!
DeleteWell done, C.
DeleteThe link then... it's not thematic, but it is something else in the title of each of these songs...
ReplyDeleteI might be be a bit of a fool but think I may know it...
ReplyDeleteErm... if you're hinting it has anything to do with fools, then no.
DeleteOtherwise, go for it, C!
The only further clue I can give you all...
Delete...is this one.
DeleteWould I...
Delete...do that?
DeleteAh, I was, a few of them do have songs with fool in title...but I just made one of myself.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with having a go...
Delete...it's always worth a shot.

ReplyDeleteJames Ray did the original of "Got My Mind Set On You" so I guess that's the song. But neither he nor George H used ellipses so not sure how your clues help, unless you are using them to indicate words left out (James had "I've" at the start of his version but George didn't).
Here ends the vote of the Skopje jury.
I guess you could look at the full title of that song, as recorded by James, which wA different to the title of the song George recorded...
Deletebrackets, part of the song title ? Rod Stewart has examples, and that James Ray song is one.
Deleteand the George Michael song Knew You Were Waiting
DeleteIt's not brackets. But you're thinking along the right lines now...
DeleteDo we have the link yet - I’m confused!
ReplyDeleteIf not is it, ‘It’ songs - ones with It’s or It in the title?
Alyson
Blimey. No. Even I'm not mean enough to make a link out of songs with it in the title.
DeleteAll these songs have something in their title... or you might argue, after their title, that most songs don't have. But you'd have to look at the full title, as it was recorded on the albums (or singles) in question.
Is it the ... s?
DeleteNo. I'm not sure I can think of any more clues. Other than to ask you to look carefully at the record label here...

Is it songs that have a Part 1and 2? Killing of Georgie etc
DeleteAlyson
We got there in the end.
DeleteCongratulations, everybody. Superb teamwork this week.
