This isn't an AI mock-up. This is an actual product that one of my colleagues bought and brought into work yesterday. What is wrong with people?
I can't swear to it, but the person responsible may well be the same person who brought in the lobster flavoured popcorn a few weeks back... which turned out to be the worst thing I have EVER tasted in my life. And I grew up on a farm. In Yorkshire. In the 1970s. The ghost of its pestilence still stains my tongue. As a result, there was no way I was going anywhere near this stuff. Even taking the photo was too close.
I like mayo.
I like gravy.
But if ever the two things are on the same plate, I go out of my way to make sure they never touch. The thought of mixing them together makes me physically ill.
It also reminded me of this...
Here are some songs about mayonnaise (ignoring all the tracks in my library that come from Simon May sessions)...
Smashing Pumpkins - Mayonaise (two 'n's, please, Billy)
OK, that last one's a cheat. But it's still a good song.
And now here's a wall...
...followed by some songs about gravy.
(That sounds more appetising than mixing it with mayo.)
(So does that.)
(And that.)
The very best song about gravy though is this one. It is a Christmas song, sort of. But it's one of the few that I can listen to at any point in the year.

ReplyDeleteMy partner eats cheesy peas (cheese slices melted in microwave, with half a tin of peas).
ReplyDeleteNO! That's just plain wrong.
ReplyDeleteIck! Don’t look, it’s just attention-seeking!
ReplyDeleteThe first two paragraphs had me laughing out loud...and I agree with every word. My personal favourite crossover product in recent years was the Marmite Hot Cross Bun, put out by M&S in 2021 or so, though I was obviously in the minority as I haven't seen them since.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how you would begin to think mixing gravy and mayo would be a commercial success. Having said that I recently experimented with Marmite and marmalade on toast- together, at the same time, a think layer of Marmite topped with marmalade- and it was surprisingly good so I've learned not to write things off instantly. Not sure what meal gravy mayo would go best with though.
ReplyDeleteI love Marmite cashew nuts, despite being on the fence about Marmite itself (much to Billy Bragg's chagrin). Marmite and marmalade sounds a bit like that weird American thing of having Peanut Butter and Jelly/Jam.
DeleteIs PBJ really not a thing over there? Kids live on the stuff over here. - Brian
ReplyDeleteNot to my knowledge, but then I hate peanuts!
