DeleteBack in the 1980s I was living in Dorset and for many weeks the only job available in the local job centre was for a pig man in Templecombe. Me and my then bandmates adapted the old Glen Campbell classic into a savage indictment of rural unemployment, the refrain to which went "the Templecombe pig man is still feeding swine". Bizarrely it was never a hit, not even in Templecombe.
DeleteThe mind boggles.
DeleteOf course it is - I was being too obtuse. Well done Ernie.
DeleteAlways fancied the life of a postman... but not in winter, or in bad weather, or the heavy bag, or the ferocious dogs etc. maybe not.
You are also contractually obliged to wear shorts!
DeleteWell done Ernie - we need to hear the song in full. I worked in a Job Centre for a while but we never had a pig man vacancy sadly.
