I had an uncle who was a farmer in Ayrshire and whilst on visits when I was young, we popped along to Saltcoats beach. Perhaps Colin was on the beach at the same time ahead of the big move "Down Under". Like Glasvegas but sounds as if Billy Connolly's ode to Saltcoats wasn't as favourable.
Think Brian thinks you are actually going to visit all these places in person - That really would be something wouldn't it, but perhaps a retirement project, come the day.
While you were there you could have popped a few miles up the coast and featured Largs by King Creosote
ReplyDeleteBilly Connolly recorded a song "Saltcoats At the Fair", which is not exactly complimentary about that fine seaside town. The last verse is:
ReplyDelete"Well Saltcoats goodbye forever
I hate the smell of your rotten seaweed
Never again will I see you,
Saltcoats goodbye..."
You can find the song on Youtube. It's quite an experience.
I had no idea Hay was a Scot. Have a lovely time.
